Hello, my fabulous readers!
Welcome to the first week of our Tiny Habit Challenge! đ
Get ready to jump (or at least stretch) into this weekâs tiny habit, straight from BJ Foggâs brilliant book, âTiny Habits: The Small Changes That Change Everythingâ. Letâs keep it simple:
Tiny Habit #1
After I turn off my alarm, I will sit up in bed and stretch for 5 seconds.
Yes, you heard it right. Weâre talking about a 5-second stretch. Itâs so easy, even your lazy cat would approve! đ± Cause they stretch when they wake up donât they?
Why This Works:
Wake Up Smoothly: This quick stretch helps you shake off the grogginess. Itâs like a mini wake-up call for your muscles, saying, âHey, itâs time to rise and shine!â
Positive Start: Youâre starting your day with a small win. It's like giving yourself a gold star for just existing. â
Super Easy: Come on, itâs only 5 seconds! You can do anything for 5 seconds.
How to Do It:
Turn Off Your Alarm: When your alarm goes off, resist the urge to snooze like a sleepy sloth. We talked about procrastination! If you feel like hitting the snooze button, count from 5 to 1 in your head and sit up. This confuses your brain with the procrastinating thoughts and once you are up, itâs easy to carry on.
Sit Up in Bed: As soon as you turn off your alarm, sit up. If you fall back, try again.
Stretch for 5 Seconds: Reach your arms up to the sky, take a deep breath, and stretch. Feel the imaginary confetti rain down as you conquer this micro-movement.
Tips to Make It Stick:
Anchor it by making this stretch the very first thing you do after turning off your alarmânot texting, not snoozing, but stretching. Then, celebrate by giving yourself a mental high-five, a fist pump, or a âWoohoo!â Youâre officially a morning champion.
Remember!
Consistency is key. Do this every morning for the best results. Itâs all about making tiny, hilarious changes that can lead to big improvements in your life. Once you do this for some time, itâll automatically become a tiny habit!
Letâs kick off this Tiny Habit Challenge with energy. Youâve got this! đȘđ

More from Spooky With Izel:
Ooh I'm so going to join you in doing this! My poor body is like a pretzel when I wake up so this will definitely help.
I'm a huge fan of making tiny habits because they're actually realistic & sustainable, and I often go above & beyond them but never *have* to. For example, I promised myself to meditate 30 seconds every night before bed. Most people would say that's pointless, but I usually end up staying in meditation for several minutes and guess what... at least I do it every day!
