This was an awesome read Spook! I love how you talked about ways to deal with nightmares but also how some nightmares help us cope! So fascinating! I’ve tried dream journaling and it works extremely well! I might try IRT as well. It sounds super cool! Thank you so much for sharing this! Keep up the great work! :)
That's interesting about your power naps. Sometimes our minds come up with strange thoughts when we wake up, especially after a short nap. It might just be your brain's way of processing things. If it bothers you, talking to someone about it might help 💕
Love the article. Love the shoutouts. Love the cat memes!
I used to get a lot of nightmares before I went into therapy. Due to trauma, etc. Since then, it's let up quite a bit. I still get them here and there but at least I'm not dying in them anymore. Apparently, dying means you didn't have control in your life. But the ones I get now, inspires me to write it in for some of my RPG characters. They're actually pretty fun haha.
I'm glad you liked it Kathy 😍 And so sorry to hear about the nightmares and trauma! I hope you are well now <3 It's nice that you don't let the nightmares let you down! That's the spirit 🫶🏻🥹
Vanilla or Cinnamon Spice are my go to candles. I’d forgotten how much I like candles until my neighbor gifted me a candle recently (they’ve been parking their cars in our driveway during their remodel—we’ve got the extra space without our boys and their vehicles—so they left a candle on our doorstep as a thank you.) Now I use the candle when I’m writing. It is relaxing and freeing… here is a virtual one for you 🕯️ as a thanks for the shout out! And 100% agree with your recommendation of Nur!
Excellent post, Izel!! I love hearing your insight and how you gave like 50 shoutouts in one post XD. I personally love nightmares because they're so thrilling and can inspire scenes for my super violent novel hehehe...
Very thorough and clear article (and with cat pictures as an added bonus).
There was a reference to lucid dreaming I'd like to expand upon.
It's not easy to implement as a strategy because it relies on knowing that you're dreaming, though I have seen some evidence the people who keep dream journals are more likely to have that kind of awareness.
Fortunately, I haven't had too many nightmares in recent years. But I do remember a dream that seemed to be trending in that direction. I realized it was a dream, turned night into day (presumably confusing the things that go bump in the night), and the approach nightmare never materialized.
But probably the best way to avoid them is to try to minimize stress in your life. We can't all do that, of course. But removing a major source of stress can make a big difference.
Glad you liked it Bill 💕 And Lucid dreams, yeah it ia hard to implement those! I have read about! A nice possibility with some dangers isn't it! Dreams are so weird 😅 As you said, reducing stress can be a major help ✨️
Loved this!!! I need to try IRT. I have the same 3 bad dreams that I keep cycling through. And journalling them and getting them out of my Pshche. I'm going to try some of this. I think an issue is I try to repress my bad dreams instead of bringing them into the light 🌟
IZEL! 🤣"this woman and water" - I can't stop laughing.
Such a comprehensive new article! Thankfully I do not experience nightmares often, but I feel you may really help some people here.
I have also been journaling about my dreams quite often in the past. I actually miss this as I also feel I could remember more vividly during this time. Might have to try some tips myself to get back to dream journaling (about hopefully nice dreams) 😀
🤓🤓 I'm so happy you found the article interesting! Thank you so much for reading 💕It's cool that you've been journaling about your dreams. Keep doing it 😍
Either some type of ocean scent or an autumn forest-cinnamon candle are my favorite.
I had never heard of IRT when arguably I should have. Seeing how I seem to be unable to encode my dreams/nightmares, it makes sense. Sounds like a mix of Grounding/EMDR/writing therapy under the CBT umbrella. All of which were helpful with my PTSD. Thanks for teaching me something today!
Couldn't agree more with the Nur Nadar recommendation.
Thank you so much for these insights! ASMR normally is pretty good at sending me off into a peaceful slumber
Glad you liked it Sophie 💕
Interesting! Also, the cat memes are a great touch! :)
Glad you liked it Skyla 💕
Hahahahah the meme of reading until 3 AM got me LOL 😂 love to see you growing every week Izel!
So glad you like it Marie! Forever grateful for the support 💕 (The meme kinda happens a lot 😬😅)
Your most welcome 😅💕

Thank you so much Khadejah <3 I’m so glad you liked it 💕🥹
You’re very welcome Spook! Keep up the great work! Sweet dreams lol :)
Hey I found the IRT part of this post interesting.
This post reminds me of something.
I take short power naps of 30 mins or lesser. Many a times when I wake I think about death, it's weird. I don't know why. You have any idea?
Also thanks for the sub!
I'm happy you liked the IRT part of the post!

It’s all good <3 and yah, they’re just more fun now if anything haha.
Hi Izel!
I ALWAYS get nightmares! So I think these will help me a lot!
Thanks for sharing!❣️
Ps. I love it when you do posts with Cat memes! They are my favourite! Have you heard of the "Huh?" Cat meme? That's my favourite!
Hey Miya 💕 I’m so sorry to hear about the nightmares! hope this helps 💗
I know the meme 😅 I also love both cats and dogs 😍
Same! By the way, it did help! Thanks a lot!

Ohh I like vanilla!! I'm not much of a cinnamon fan though! Thank you so much for the virtual candle 🕯️💗 You guys have such amazing neighbours 😍
Good stuff Spookster! appreciate the recommendation I heard that guy's pretty good!
Thanks Nur! And yeah, you should subscriber to him 😌
Izel, this is an insightful and funny (with cats) way to talk about nightmares. I loved it. Thanks for including me in there.
I’m so glad you liked it Shanjitha 😍
